What I learned in EDTEC700: Ins and Outs of LMS
Through the EDTEC 700: Ins and Outs of Learning Management Systems, I learned the three following useful facts in designing learning programs:
1) That dynamic models of LMSs are better than static models of LMSs in that they provide the learner to progress at their own pace. This allows them to take their time on more essential pieces of information, while also being allowed to accelerate through the concepts with which they may be already familiar or are not necessarily essential for the learning process. The dynamic model is able to respond to the learner’s needs, dependent on each learner’s needs separately from the whole group.
2) Learner aptitude emerges through the process of the transaction between a person and a situation. Learning is a dynamic process that emerges during the interation.
3) There is a great deal of differences between the various Learning Management Systems platforms. They vary in terms of different kinds of lecture management such as synchronous versus asynchronous, types of interfaces, methods of communications (blogs, wikis, etc), and design abilities (including whether you are able to import past courses).
