Three things from article (plus one more)

Three things I learned from the article (and one more)

One of the most interesting things I learned was about the impact of physical science on the terminology of terms such as e-learning and online learning. Telecommunications have gone from the telephone (online) to the radio and TV (wireless) to cable (online) to satellite (wireless) to the Internet (online then wireless). Using physical science terminology to describe the learning misses the mark.

Another interesting idea from the article was that Benjamin Franklin's Junto was a precursor to discussion forums used in online learning. I read a book about Franklin saw how they tackled ideas by discussing them, going off and doing original learning on subjects and then came together to discuss them and learn from each other.

I was also interested in the aspect of the independence of the learner in distance learning and that this theme will be instrumental in building a theory of contemporary distance education. Being able to pick a topic for my project motivated me because of my interest in the subject (home remodeling). I am hoping that I will be able to interact with other students on my topic.

The extra item was that I relearned was the importance of typing your work in a document before submitting your work. I lost my work and had to redo it. It seemed to flow better the first time.
