Rubric Discussion
The elements that resonate for me as an instructional designer in the corporate world include:
• Learner Support & Resources: Links to related resources or access to additional documentation
• Online Organization & Design: A well-organized course that is aesthetically pleasing or interesting (but doesn’t distract from the point of the course!); Links and web pages that function properly and are accessible by the intended audience.
• Instructional Design & Delivery: Clear course goals and learning objectives (i.e. “What’s in it for me?”) Course includes opportunities for the learner to be actively engaged (navigation isn’t locked; scenarios are not linear and static, etc.)
• Assessment & Evaluation of Student Learning: Practice activities are inserted in the appropriate spots during the course. The activities are directly related to the course objectives.
• Innovative Teaching with Technology: using appropriate technology to facilitate the learning objectives (not using technology for technology’s sake!)
• Faculty Use of Student Feedback: our company has a feedback/survey mechanism that we monitor after each and every class.
