Principles of Online Design - Bartosz
3.1.1 The information on a course web page should be organized in a way that facilitates information processing and reading.
The presentation of the course is as important as the course content in itself. I think this is a Major part of creating an online class because people tend to space out or get frustrated quickly during a presentation which is difficult to follow.
I think that every part of this principle nails it on the head with how a online class should be. Applying these principles to corporate meetings would also save many people from frustration, especially section E about leaving white space. Efficient and effective course content and communication will be praised by your learners and participants.
5.1.3 Support systems should be designed to provide services to students in geographically diverse locations and across time zones.
With many online classes being international, I think that support like this is necessary to cater to many international students taking the class. Although this might seem challenging with having staff working 24 hour shifts, establishing a FAQ sheet for international students and IT or Helpdesk phone numbers in collaboration of using technology such as Skype will be a great way for international communication. The traditional email is sufficient. From a personal perspective, I’ve helped many students calling from different parts of the country trying to gather information or just some tech support.
