Instructional Design Ideas Using Rubric
Instructional Design Ideas using Rubric for Online Instruction
Using the rubric as a road map in designing my project for this class, here are some ideas I plan to implement:
Category 1: Learner Support and Resources
• Provide facilitator contact information (includes email, telephone, etc) in case learners have questions they want to ask privately
• Links to online learning resources which will include articles or tips on how to have a successful online class, virtual assistance organizations, other online classes on telecommuting, etc
• List of references, books, articles on virtual assistance and telecommuting
Category 2: Online Organization and Design
• Include introduction which includes an explanation of how the virtual classroom will work (classroom requirements, technology requirements, instructions, etc)
• Include overall objectives of the course
• Clear and complete instructional objectives for each topic/lesson (preferably listed at beginning of each lesson)
• Appropriate use of technology (audio if necessary, video if necessary, graphics, etc)
Category 3: Instructional Design and Delivery
• Include exercises, assignments that will facilitate participation and communication
• Include discussion forum for students to discuss assignments, exercises, questions
Category 4: Assessment and Evaluation of Student Learning
• Include review/assessment after each lesson
• Provide immediate feedback on assignments, exercises either via email or in forums
Category 6: Faculty Use of Student Feedback
• Use discussion forum as a means of ongoing feedback from learners about the overall course, specific projects/assignments, etc
