3 facts in the distance education article I found to be interesting were:

1. Distance Education encompassing communication technologies as early as the beginning of 20th century. I didn’t know that the use of early radio reaching out to rural farming and agricultural areas around the United States showed such a major move toward educational expansion with the use of new available technology.

2. Very high home schooling numbers. In 2002, 4 million home schooled children accounting to almost 8%. The tie into the FLVS Florida online schooling program, free for Florida residents shows an increase in school away from school on the rise. I didn’t expect these numbers to be so high.

3. The Hierarchical System of Distance Education. I didn’t expect that the system would be so large in such a short amount of time, granted didn’t expect DE to have its roots in almost all technology since the radio.
