3 Interesting Facts About Distance Education

Three interesting facts I did not know before I read the article, “An Introduction to Distance Education and eLearning,” are:

1. I had no idea distance education has been around for so long. I had always connected distance education with the internet.

2. I learned about Virtual State Funded Schools. I knew colleges were getting on the online education bandwagon but I had no idea that K-12 had gotten to this level. My mom is a technology teacher for K-5 and it doesn’t sound like their district and many others are even capable of accessing this resource. I see how under funded the physical schools are and I wonder how advanced this ‘virtual school” could be.

3. It is amazing how many children are home schooled. 4 million! Wow, that is a shocking statistic.
